Project Description

We streamlined franchise renovation projects with custom Adobe PDF document population that provided necessary forms and clear brand standards to ensure clarity. Our solution saved over 80% of form data costsreduced data entry time to almost zeroincreased mobile workforce efficiency, and reduced PIP and site effort by over 50%.

The Challenge: For a Top brand development player, trying to manage all the requirements for an entire family of brands (5) and multiple generations per brand was complex. Getting franchise owners to follow renovation requirements was a challenge. The Vision: They needed a consistent way to help franchise owners renovate their properties and increase customer retention—keeping them fresh and viable to maintain revenue models. The Solution: HingePoint came alongside this corporation, focusing on the critical deliverables in the construction or renovation process. We created a simple tool to empower the authoring of brand requirements for the entire brand family—keeping them up-to-date, consistent, and accurate. To eliminate the tedious creation of static forms, we created standardized PDF form templates catered specifically to the brand and renovation, providing custom Renovation Scope Documents, Requirements Documents, and PIP (Property Improvement Plan) Documents, construction observation reports, and QA tools. These secure forms are easy to email around, fill out, return, and report on to track and manage the progress of the project phases. The result is an elegant tool that automatically manufactures custom PDF forms specific to each project or property depending on its history and state, brand, generation, age, and which décor or custom package they are using for design. At the push of a button anyone can generate and send out forms and instructions to owners as well as track and manage the process all while using friendly desktop tools like Adobe PDFs and E-mail. The Relationship: Since 2006 this tool has been expanded to include all project types/brands across the company portfolio. Many other firms have benchmarked it and franchise owners find it to be extremely clear and simple to use in keeping their properties operating at the top of their potential. Project Description

We developed a custom web interface that enabled users to automate the collection of BOM & FFE items from CAD into a PDF Book.  Our solution drastically reduced change orders, improved procurement accuracy by over 50%and decreased write-offs from errors.

  The Challenge: While working on a business process re-engineering project for a client’s Architecture & Construction division, HingePoint identified one key deliverable that was causing everyone angst: a book of all the Bill of Materials (BOM)/Furniture, Fixtures & Equipment (FFE) items for a brand or franchise project. This deliverable is core to the jobs of corporate architects, interior designers, contractors, installers, project managers, and procurement groups. No tool or system held all the information created across a multi-year, complex design and build project. The company was stuck manually counting, adding and extracting data—making a handmade physical manual of the FFE/BOM. They had asked PeopleSoft and Autodesk if they could provide a solution. They couldn’t. We could. We did. The Solution: HingePoint came alongside this client to create a digital book, fully indexed, linked, searchable, and organized by area of the building and use of the FFE. Users can look things up instantly, see exactly where the item located is in the building, and see where it is on the CAD sheets. In addition, we created 1) business processes to keep the data updated and versioned every 2 weeks for all brands, generations, and décor packages; 2) a simple tool that automatically generates the FFE Books every 2 weeks; and 3) a Change Bulletin, that publishes all the FFE changes every 2 weeks as well as every quarter so everyone knows exactly what has stayed the same, what has been retired, and what new FFE items are replacing the old ones. The Relationship: Today HingePoint continues to evolve and enhance the FFE and BOM PDF Manual book to be exactly what teams need to get the job done. Project Description

The Vision: A Top real estate brand franchise, wanted an independent expert to help leverage the concept of BIM (Building Information Management) to re-invent their Product Development and Brand Design Process. Autodesk was the assumed software vendor, but the client needed help from business experts that know how to migrate companies from physical prototypes and 2D CAD design to virtual, 3D, Revit, and Photo Realistic renderings. This new process was driven to revolutionize how the company designed and rolled out new or renovated franchise brands as more efficient and cost effective—increasing the speed to market while staying ahead of the competition. The Solution: HingePoint came alongside the corporation to supplement Autodesk with business expertise, create new Virtual Design Processes, and do a proof of concept of a full BIM 3D design to CAD to CAM (computer aided manufacturing), construction documents, photo realistic renderings, walk-throughs, and fly-bys. We aligned with Autodesk experts on the tools, and pushed the envelope with how far we could go on feasibility to going 100% digital or 3D models and virtual reality. We helped in the planning of required digital assets, Revit families, and Furniture, Fixtures & Equipment (FFE) data, as well as Revit finishes, and the potential for photo realistic renderings in 3D Studio Max. We provided a proof of concept of all phases of the design and construction process in the new BIM system. The Relationship: Many of the ideas prototyped at that time are still being rolled out, brand by brand, vendor by vendor, as the supply chain adopts BIM best practices.
