Project Description

We created a custom Buzzsaw web interface, that enhances team cooperation while maintaining security.  Our solution reduced document storage costs by 50%eliminated printing and mailing document sets, and cut a 3 year construction design process down by 6 months.

The Vision: A growing national brand with aggressive plans for continued expansion, learned about many of the best-in-class systems HingePoint had created for others. Their design consultants had a vision to create a better tool to roll out a new brand direction. The company is committed to their Buzzsaw platform for project collaboration of CAD files and brand project documentation and wanted to stay true to that strategy, but create a branded, user-friendly GUI/user experience for Architecture, Engineering & Construction teams renovating and building out the design intent of new brand guidelines. They didn’t even want the teams in Buzzsaw, they wanted them to have a totally new and unique, custom experience, yet still leverage all the brand documents and security of user accounts coming from Buzzsaw. The Solution: HingePoint came alongside this national brand to create a custom website experience to sit on top of Buzzsaw where all CAD and brand document files are pulled in real time from Buzzsaw and maintained and updated using Buzzsaw. The website, webpages, and web-only content, however, are now maintained by a simple content management system so they can be easily maintained by business users. The site is secure, and only those users with access to the Buzzsaw files/folders are able to login to the site, using their Buzzsaw user name and login. The entire system was built in less than 6 weeks to accommodate an aggressive brand rollout. Ongoing Benefits: The client now has a beautiful user experience that is helping to expedite the rollout of their new branding and store renovations, to rave reviews. Project Description

We automated user account administration and security verification in Buzzsaw for increased productivity.  This solution saved hundreds of hours of time, decreased data errors by 200%, and extending the lifecycle of existing platforms by years.
The Challenge: Having worked on Siebel, CAD, and PeopleSoft systems for a Top 10 global brand’s Architecture & Construction division, they reached out to us again with a key need for their new Buzzsaw platform. The Buzzsaw user enrollment process was difficult, time consuming, and not to company standards. The Vision: They needed something simple, elegant, easy, and automated due to the volume of users entering and exiting the system. Also included, the necessity of making it easy for over 5000 users to adopt Buzzsaw as their project document collaboration tool. The Solution: HingePoint came alongside this global brand to create branded, custom user enrollment forms that are easy to use, fill out, and submit. Once submitted via an Application Programming Interface (API), this system automates 95% of the user account administration. The corporation can now add or remove hundreds of users, from different projects, folders, groups, and file level access in an automated fashion. This allows for one part-time resource to administer the largest Buzzsaw platform in production whereas, originally, it would have taken 4 or 5 administrators to set up, test, report, and verify all the credentials of nearly 20,000 users over the span of 5 years. The Relationship: We continue to assist this client in further automating other administrative tasks such as, reporting and testing group permissions to ensure they work as expected, adding new users, cloning users and groups, removing old users, updating existing user permissions as they change over time or as projects come and go, and integrating user accounts from Buzzsaw as well as other systems so they share the same security credentials or inherit their credentials from Buzzsaw. Systems Integrated: Buzzsaw, Forms, API, Web, Admin [post_title] => Automating Buzzsaw User Enrollment & Account Administration [post_excerpt] => [post_status] => publish [comment_status] => closed [ping_status] => closed [post_password] => [post_name] => automating-buzzsaw-user-enrollment-account-administration [to_ping] => [pinged] => [post_modified] => 2018-01-12 16:54:58 [post_modified_gmt] => 2018-01-12 22:54:58 [post_content_filtered] => [post_parent] => 0 [guid] => https://www.hingepoint.com/?post_type=case-studies&p=13521 [menu_order] => 0 [post_type] => case-studies [post_mime_type] => [comment_count] => 0 [filter] => raw ) [2] => WP_Post Object ( [ID] => 13520 [post_author] => 15 [post_date] => 2018-01-12 16:53:57 [post_date_gmt] => 2018-01-12 22:53:57 [post_content] =>

Project Description

We created a user-friendly, custom Buzzsaw interface that solved issues, while protecting the corporate brand.  Our solution…eliminated 95% of systems maintenanceimproved adoption by 300% and saw an ROI on the system of nearly 500%.
The Challenge: A Top 10 global brand, and the #1 global hospitality brand franchise, requires that all customer touch points be branded with their corporate identity. The company’s Architecture & Construction (A&C) division wanted a project document file collaboration system for all teams working on the design and construction of their properties, worldwide. They had implemented the Autodesk/Buzzsaw platform for enterprise-level solutions and many of their users were familiar with it. The problem was, it was branded as Autodesk, and had a clunky user interface compared to other company systems. The Vision: They asked HingePoint to find a way to brand Buzzsaw and make it user friendly. User adoption was the #1 goal for success and ROI. If users abandoned it, the entire platform could be a failure, so the solution had to be easy to use and valuable to users. The Solution: HingePoint came alongside this worldwide enterprise to create custom, branded user interfaces to Buzzsaw that gave users a more “hospitality” and “service” oriented context and experience. In addition, we created branded, custom interfaces inside Buzzsaw, catered exactly to the roles and entities the user has access to. This greatly simplified Buzzsaw complexity, giving users an interface that had just the information they needed; nothing more, nothing less. It hid all the details and information in the systems that didn’t pertain to them. This branded, simplified and enhanced the entire user experience with Buzzsaw. User adoption was rapid and over 3000 users signed on in the first year, to manage over 1500 construction projects across 30 brands. Ongoing Benefits: This unique solution is still the industry leading best Buzzsaw solution in production, has been benchmarked by the Autodesk Technology Council numerous times, and featured twice at Autodesk U. Project Description

We created more effective data searching in Buzzsaw, utilizing Google Earth for regional searching functionality and brought over 90% time savings related to document search.
The Challenge: A Top global brand franchise, called HingePoint frustrated with how hard it is to find files, documents, and photos (of their over 3000 properties) on Buzzsaw. At the time, the company’s Architecture & Construction employees spent up to 50% of their time searching for already existing corporate documents! The Vision: They needed to be able to quickly search through over 3 Terabytes of data, 1 million documents, and 3000 projects on Buzzsaw. They also wanted to provide a user experience via Google Earth with the functionality to search and navigate all company projects using the globe—gaining the ability to find documents by seeing them plotted in 3D. In essence, they wanted a custom Google Earth experience, using Google Earth to not only view properties, but also locate and access documents from Buzzsaw. The Solution: HingePoint came alongside this worldwide corporation to stand up the first North American instance of Google Earth enterprise: a private version of Google Earth, secure with the company’s Buzzsaw and CRM data. We fulfilled their vision, enabling them to use Google Earth to search Buzzsaw files and folders and find documents via key search terms or geographically, thus reducing the time needed to find files in Buzzsaw. Respecting security was critical to this project’s success and we ensured that all data was fully secured based on users rights, even within Google Earth. This solution created a huge advantage for the client’s architectects, designers, and construction teams, helping them search, find, and visualize project related documents in the context of Google Earth all while improving native Buzzsaw search performance. The Relationship: Today, HingePoint continues to work with the global brand to improve the data search and integration of mapping search tools as well as clean and optimally tag dirty data and files so they can be easily found. We also continue to use our findings to figure out how users search and improve internal search tools within Buzzsaw as well as leverage Google Earth’s features and functionality.
