As many will agree, Autodesk University (AU) is the premier learning destination for Autodesk customers and development partners worldwide. Participants use the conference to learn from industry thought leaders and experts so they can apply that knowledge to their 2016 tactics and projects.

AU began in 1993 as an Autodesk software “user conference” in California. Today it is much, much more… encompassing 13 live global events plus recently, online learning for those unable to attend in person.

What exactly is Autodesk University? It is learning and growing professionally, gaining new skills and improving existing ones, and exploring the future of making all types of things. In essence, that’s what AU is about.

This year, the only U.S. conference event, will be held December 1st-3rd 2015 in Las Vegas, Nevada and is billed as the world’s largest gathering of Autodesk software users. More than 10,000 design, engineering and manufacturing professionals are expected to attend the 3 day event to see and try the latest trends and technologies.

In attendance will be more than 160 authorized Autodesk developers and partners, including Bryce Finnerty and Johnny Stromp from HingePoint. There will be plenty of learning and networking opportunities for those that plan well, and make the most of the event.

As you register and begin planning for your Autodesk University experience, you will be able to browse more than 650 classes and sessions. So…it can get a bit daunting.

Tips To Make The Most Of The Conference

The Keynote

On December 1st, is the big Keynote. In true Las Vegas fashion, this big time event is designed with a stadium atmosphere and it is packed with participants! The Keynote is carefully crafted and lead, by the Autodesk CEO and CTO. It is their “mission” to blow your mind about the future of design, engineering, 3D, animation, computing, and so much more… if history repeats itself, they will crush it again.

The Innovation Forums

If you aren’t sure about which sessions to attend, go to the Innovation Forums. You might find that the forums are even better than the classes. The forums are lead by industry experts who have been selected because they are participating in something truly cutting edge. You have to hear it, or see it, to believe it most of the time. These leaders are fascinating to hear and present participants with a rare opportunity to sit among some of the world’s top innovators.

Trade Show Floor

Don’t shy away from the trade show floor. Be inquisitive and see real Autodesk products and feel the industry buzz by rubbing shoulders with industry vendors and authorized Autodesk developers who will be discussing, and often demonstrating, unique products and solutions. Many of solutions will be relevant to your current job or company… in some cases you will make a connection that will be helpful years from now. Network like crazy and get engaged on the trade show floor.

Pre-Conference, “DevDays”

On November 30th, Autodesk hosts “DevDays”. This is for members of the Autodesk Development Network (ADN) only. Here developer partners get the road map of new Autodesk products and solutions being released over the coming year. It is exciting to hear about what is coming before anyone else…so we are always prepared to be amazed!
